COVID-19 Update 03/25/20

Hello Baseball and Softball families,

I want to update you regarding our 2020 season. We as an organization are following the guidance put forth by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks which has suspended the use of permitted activities at our facilities until further notice. Earlier today, Maryland Public Schools announced their extended closure and we are postponing all activities until the school closure concludes, currently planned to end Friday, April 24.

LF has an amazing team of volunteers prepared to do everything we can to have as much of a season as possible.  The season will look a little different this year.

Coaches meetings will be held virtually and a date will be sent to coaches once in place.

Opening day on April 18 is cancelled and there will be no large scale Opening Day gathering regardless of when our season starts. Team pictures planned for April 26 will be rescheduled.

Permitting we are allowed access to fields by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks, practices will start April 25. Teams will have three scheduled practices before games start the week of May 4. Our plan is to have a short practice window followed by a 16 game schedule ending on or about June 28.  The dates outlined are tentative and are subject to change pending information and directives from State and Local Governments.

All members of the Baseball/Softball Board feel strongly on the importance of offering a sense of community to you and your family when we are able to return to a level of normalcy. Our volunteers are willing to move the season further into the summer months if necessary.

Updated information will continue to be provided on any further decisions.  Thank you for your patience during this difficult time and I look forward to seeing you all on a baseball field soon!

Baseball/Softball Commissioner
